The Appalachia Help Weeks outreach program started in 1986 in response to the floods that affected so many in Preston County, West Virginia. They are a part of the Justice & Service component to Youth Ministry. The whole process fosters the faith development of all who participate and provides an opportunity for our community to be the Body of Christ for others. Every summer many of our Youth Ministry teens and some adult parishioners make the journey to Preston County to help our brothers and sisters in need. At the Sunday 5 pm Mass on January 17, 2021, Moira Horan was presented the 2020 SPYM JTB Foundation Scholarship for her dedication and time and talent shared with St. Patrick Youth Ministry and St. Patrick Parish over her 4 years in High School. Congratulations Moira!
St. Patrick Parish Nurses Ministry consists of a group of dedicated nurses who volunteer their time and talent to answer questions and provide support, guidance, and resources to our parishioners. If you have a senior neighbor living alone, please check in on them or refer them to the Parish Nurses if they have any questions.

Please join us once again in providing Thanksgiving meals for our brothers and sisters in need by donating small, frozen turkeys or chickens and non-perishable food or treats, which shows our love and care for others. Our seminarian, Sam, youth minister, Maggie, and our Youth Ministry teens are working with Bridges Outreach in Summit to help provide 200 lunches for the homeless in areas of NJ and NYC. The program goal of Bridges Outreach is to bring community to the most vulnerable homeless and food insecure in lower Manhattan, Newark and Irvington. They deliver ready-made meals, clothing and necessities with compassion and respect. With your help and donations of food, our teens will be assembling bag lunches that will be distributed to our brothers and sisters in need. Thank you for your help and generosity!

We come together as a parish community in a special way to remember those who have gone on to their eternal reward. We include those people both from the parish and from our families and friends who died between October 2019 and October 2020. The Interfaith Clergy Council is working with Chatham’s Mayor, administration and a local firm, Boxcar, Inc., to provide boxes of groceries to those in need. Boxcar takes the orders/donations and delivers the food boxes on Wednesdays for distribution at the United Methodist Church on Main Street across the street from the CVS shopping center. Twenty-nine teens confirmed their commitment to the Catholic faith in the last two of the six Confirmations celebrated at St. Pat's this summer. We look forward to their continued commitment to our Youth Ministry program and our parish. There is one more Confirmation celebration scheduled in the fall. Thank you to our parishioners who once again very generously donated to the Annual Corpus Christi Diocesan Food Collection! This year the food drive went virtual and our wonderful parishioners recognized the needs of our brothers and sisters and donated 1,260 items to the food drive! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your love, care and concern for the needs of others!
On July 28 and July 29, an additional 26 teens were confirmed showing their commitment to the faith, doctrines and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Congratulations!
Two Confirmation celebrations were held at St. Pat's this week. Thirty six teens confirmed their commitment to the Catholic faith. We look forward to their continued commitment to our Youth Ministry program and our parish. There are three more Confirmation celebrations scheduled for next week and an additional celebration on August 4. Confirmations will be live streamed on our YouTube channel!
An email was sent to those families whose children prepared to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist this past spring, asking them to select a new date for their child/children to celebrate the sacrament in the fall. Congratulations to Nick Marsillo and Jason Bernier on completing the RCIA Rites usually celebrated at the Easter Vigil. On Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the 10 AM Liturgy, Father Bob confirmed Nick, as well as received Jason into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Jason, coming from the Russian Orthodox Tradition, has received all his sacraments and these sacraments are valid in the Catholic church.
